The latest game featured in the Microgaming’s collection, Stellar Portals was designed by Snowborn Games exclusively for the game developer and it is definitely one with an uncommon design and a bunch of features and multipliers. While one might expect some science fiction themed game, given its name, Stellar Portals, in reality, the theme of the game is quite surprising.
Even though it is stellar themed there is really no specific story told there. It is just a game featuring various colorful blocks of color which are the lower value symbols and there are also some sellar portals that are the higher paying symbols. There are a bunch of features that are present, such as regular and stacked wilds, several scatters, multipliers, and free spins.
Gameplay
And as futuristic as the name might sound the game is actually quite standard with 5×3 reels and 20 lines. This game is of high volatility with wins of up to 7,777x the stake. But the RTP rate is definitely average at 96.04% of what is wagered back to its players. With a range of $0.20 to $20 in place, line bets can reach a maximum of $1. The bottom right area hosts a Bet button which after activation will open up a small menu for you with bet values you can choose from.
Features
When it comes to features there are quite a lot of them in Stellar Portals. The easiest to spot is the Sticky Wild and when you get these symbols you may use them as replacements in new combinations and then they also form their own which pays as much as the jackpot symbol. These wilds stick to the reels while the positions around them re-spin and they will stop once no new sticky wilds appear.
There are also some regular Wild symbols that show up on the reels and they work the same way when forming new combinations. If three Sticky Bonus Wilds are present on the same reels at the same moment, you trigger the Sticky Wild Bonus. These symbols can only show up on the 1st, 3rd, and 5th reels. At this point, you will get 6 free spins with sticky wilds locked in their positions.

Design
The idea of the Stellar Portals is one that holds promise, and I was expecting some kind of science fiction themed game at first. It’s stellar themed, I will give it that, but there is no real story being told there. Various connected blobs are part of the lower value list (1 blue, 2 green, 3 yellow and 4 red), while high value symbols do seem to offer images of some kind of stellar portals, colored in orange, yellow, green and blue, while featuring black holes in the middle. Obviously, there are a lot of scatters fighting to get a spot on the reels 1, 3 and 5, each type with a different feature to trigger.
Conclusion
Stellar Portals slot has an overabundance of features that could trigger, but the downside is that they all share the same three reels, and you need them to match if you want access. It makes it more difficult for any of those features to get the symbols it requires, but I’d say that overall the game is still plenty of fun. I love its potential as well, especially with all the different multipliers and sticky wilds that can help out.
